A young horse says hi to little donkey Spunky. But the horse's mother pulls him away, saying we don't associate with that kind. Spunky makes a few more overtures, and eventually they set off on a chase, running across a bull from time to time. The horse stops to eat a lot of apples and drink far too much water; this leaves him too bloated to move much at all. The two continue to anger the bull, which gives chase; Spunky saves the colt, and they all live in harmony.
Hunky and Spunky are settling in for a nap, but a horse fly sees them and sees dinner. After battling the fly for a while, the youngster enlists dad's help. But the fly is merely stunned, and rallies a new attack, this time with friends. Father eventually kills the lot of them.
In the third cartoon, Casper the Friendly Ghost, after playing class dunce at Ghost School for being more concerned with making friends than scaring people, Casper continues his search for social acceptance and finally locates a duck, just hatched from its egg, that will accept him for who, or is that what?, he is. Casper takes the young duck under his proverbial wing and the two find happiness together although a hunter looking for a meal of duck sounds proves a most hazardous threat to Casper's newfound friend.
Depressed by the antics of the other ghosts, Casper leaves home to make friends. After unintentionally scaring several potential pals, Casper befriends two young children. They take him home, where Casper frightens their mother. Casper is again upset because he believes that he will always scare away his potential buddies. However, Casper scares away a banker who is coming to foreclose on the woman's house, and this wins her heart for Casper. Alan Shay is the voice of Casper.
Detective Lt. Bill Bannister has the assignment to run down an unknown gang of terrorists spreading a net of crime over the city. Aiding him is Detective Tim Nolan, news photographer Vicki Logan and reporter Happy Haskins. Bill finds that the gang's leader is a mysterious Professor Mortis and the gang is made up of known criminals officially listed in the police records as dead. Each has become of member of Mortis' "League of Murdered Men" after seemingly committing suicide by hanging while on death row. Bill eventually, after surviving a plane crash, being dynamited, dropped down a well and other nuisances, tracks the gang to two hideouts; a subterranean cell beneath the city's subways and a suburban mystery house. Starring Kent Taylor, Irene Hervey, and Ralph Morgan. When folks say “Gang Busters”, they mean it!
Mr. Wong in Phantom of Chinatown-1940. In the last of the Mr. Wong movies, Boris Karloff is replaced by Keye Luke as his nephew Jimmy Wong. In the middle of a pictorial lecture on his recent expedition to the Mongolian Desert, Dr. John Benton the famous explorer, drinks from the water bottle on his lecture table, collapses and dies. His last words "Eternal Fire" are the only clue Chinese detective Jimmy Wong and Captain Street of the police department have to work on. Win Lee, Benton's secretary, reveals the doctor's dying words refer to a scroll that tells the location of rich oil deposits. Wong and Street then begin the search for the killer among Benton's associates. Starring Keye Luke, Grant Withers, and Lotus Long. Jimmy Wong is as smart as his uncle!
Mr. Wong is Doomed to Die-1940. Of course, Captain Street arrests Dick, but reporter Bobbie Logan, the attractive thorn in Street's side, is so convinced he's wrong that she enlists the help of detective James Lee Wong to find the real killer. A hat-check girl at the Stork Club (Hutton) saves the life of a drowning man (Fitzgerald). A rich man, he decides to repay her by anonymously giving her a bank account, a luxury apartment and a charge account at a department store. When her boyfriend (DeFore) returns from overseas, he thinks she is a kept woman. Starring Betty Hutton, Barry Fitzgerald, and Don DeFore. Things were tough in the 40s but at least they had Betty Hutton. Lots of laughs in an age gone by.
Antisocial Professor Hammil's Remote Control device, which enables the user to take over any motor vehicle within 50 miles, is stolen by The Wizard, black-hooded mastermind, and his gang. Young cavalry officer Jeff Stewart returns to his home in the west after the Civil War to find that a ring of crooked politicians has taken over the county, bleeding the citizens with 50% of value on the main trail, and protecting the rustlers that raid the cattle ranches. With the permission of the state governor and the assistance of Kate Wells, the postmistress, Jeff plans to open another trail to beat the toll. He also decides to resurrect an ancestor of his who, in a similar situation, took the law in his own hands—Zorro. With the aid of Pancho, Zorro manages to thwart the conspirators and exposes the guilty culprits. Starring George Turner, Peggy Stewart, and Roy Barcroft. A great Zorro Retro-Western with lots of whip action! Look out Indiana Jones!

Nona Brooks, former member of a stranded theatrical troupe, earns a temporary living singing in a café in Duakwa, British Rhodesia, Africa. The café owner is secretly in league with two foreign agents with a goal of making the natives restless. American explorer Larry Mason leaves for the jungle with his servant, Jeff and a safari. Nona escapes the café into the jungle but is followed by the agents as, unknowing to her, she is carrying a report of the agent's activities. She joins the safari just as all hands are captured by a tribe of natives. Starring Arline Judge, John 'Dusty' King, and Mantan Moreland. A great safari-gorilla film of the 40s!

Sherlock Holmes is intrigued when Dr. Watson's friend, Julian 'Stinky' Emery, visits and tells them of a strange robbery at his flat the previous night. Stinky is an avid collector of music boxes and has several quite expensive pieces in his vast collection. The previous night, someone broke into his flat and knocked him unconscious when he tried to intervene. All they took however was a simple wooden music box he had bought at auction that day for a mere £2. The box was one of three available for sale and as Holmes and Watson begin to trace the other purchasers, it becomes apparent that someone will stop at nothing, including murder, to retrieve all three. When Holmes learns the identity of the music box maker, he is convinced it contains directions to the retrieval of something very valuable that the government has kept from the public. Starring Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, and Patricia Morison. Probably the best of all the Sherlock Holmes movies.

A clever 40s murder mystery with Karloff as Detective Wong.

Operating under the secret leadership of “The Master Key,” with the operatives headed by a German agent posing as a private investigator named Garrett Donovan, the gang is trailed by Federal agent Tom Brant, aided by police detective Lieutenant Jack Ryan and newspaper reporter Janet Lowe. Also aiding in the quest is Police Chief William J. O'Brien and his secretary Dorothy Arnold. Starring Milburn Stone, Jan Wiley, and Dennis Moore. One of the great WWII spy serials!
