The Evil Mind (1935)

Also known as The Clairvoyant and taken from a book by that name and made in England. Claude Raines is Maximus, a small-time music hall mind reader and a fake psychic, suddenly has frightening flashes of precognition; but he cannot predict or control them …until he realizes he has them in the presence of Christine, attractive daughter of a publisher, who makes Rene, his equally lovely wife, wretchedly jealous. But worse trouble comes to Maximus when he's accused of causing a disaster he predicted. His predictions start coming true with tragic consequences. Starring Claude Rains, Fay Wray, and Mary Clare. One of the lost horror movies of the 1930s, with Fay “King Kong” Wray.

Horror Express (1972)

In 1905, an English anthropologist has discovered a frozen monster in the frozen wastes of Manchuria which he believes may be the Missing Link. He brings the creature back to Europe aboard a trans-Siberian express, but during the trip the monster thaws out and starts to butcher the passengers one by one. Starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Telly Savalas. This is not a train to be on! Is it a bigfoot or an alien?

Dracula vs Frankenstein (1970)

Also known as Assignment Terror. Aliens from a dying world plot to conquer Earth by preying on man's superstitions. Bringing two dead scientists back to life, they use their knowledge to re-animate various monsters, including the werewolf Waldemar Daninsky, Frankenstein's monster, the mummy Tao-Tet, and the vampire Count de Meirhoff. Starring Michael Rennie of The Day the Earth Stood Still, Karin Dor, and Craig Hill. An Italian horror movie with all the monsters you could possibly want… wait, where are the Mole Men?

Warriors of the Apocalypse (1985)

After civilization is wiped out by nuclear war, an adventurer leads a group of wanderers on a search for the fabled Mountain of Life. Along the way they encounter pygmy tribes, bands of savage outlaws and a tribe of Amazon women. Starring Michael James, Deborah Moore, and Ken Metcalfe. This is a little-seen Italian Mad Max-Road Warrior movie. Plenty of post-apocalyptic action and Amazon women!

Laser Mission (1989)

Mercenary Gold is sent from the CIA to seize the laser expert Braun in Cuba, before the KGB catches him. A recently stolen giant diamond could be used together with Braun's knowledge to construct a laser cannon which could bring power over the whole world. Who will succeed: CIA or KGB - or none of them? Starring Brandon Lee, Debi A. Monahan, and Ernest Borgnine. Maybe Ernest Borgnine’s last movie? He was great in Escape From New York! Brandon Lee’s first movie in a very short career.

Batman and Robin (1949)

Antisocial Professor Hammil's Remote Control device, which enables the user to take over any motor vehicle within 50 miles, is stolen by The Wizard, black-hooded mastermind, and his gang. Batman and Robin must prevent the Wizard from obtaining diamonds, needed as fuel for the device, and rescue magazine photographer Vicki Vale from periodic perils. Where is the Wizard's base, reached only by remote controlled submarine? Which of several suspicious characters hides beneath the Wizard's hood? Starring Robert Lowery, Johnny Duncan, and Jane Adams. This old Batman seems a bit corny by today’s standards but they still have the Batcave, the Bat Signal and more!

Prisoners of the Lost Universe (1984)

Through a series of coincidences, Carrie, Dan and Dr. Hartmann all fall through a teleporter device Hartmann has invented. Transported to a what appears to be a prehistoric world in a parallel universe and unable to find the Doctor, Dan and Carrie must figure out a way to get back home. Before they can do that, however, they must deal with tribes of savage cavemen, as well as brutal warlord named Kleel who has taken a liking to Carrie and seems to be unusually well-supplied with Earth technology. Starring Richard Hatch, Kay Lenz, and Bruce Lee’s buddy, John Saxon. Things get tough in these parallel universes… hold on!

Last Woman on Earth (1960)

The Return of Dr Mabuse (1961)

German Commissioner Lohmann is planning his holidays when an unexpected phone call calls him back to work. A member of Interpol has been murdered. The head of an organization wants to come into contact with the gangster organization of Chicago. But who is this? Mysterious murders happen and all trails lead to a penitentiary. But there is Joe Como, FBI agent, who is helping commissioner Lohmann. But soon Lohmann doubts Comos' identity. When Lohmann sees the name of Dr. Mabuse mentioned in a book found by a victim he believes that Dr. Mabuse is the mind behind the crimes. Starsring Gert Fröbe, Lex Barker, Daliah Lavi. Before the James Bond 007 movie Goldfinger, Gert Fröbe made two British-German movies featuring the diabolic mad scientist Doctor Mabuse and his nemesis, Commissioner Lohmann.

Unknown World (1951)

Dr. Jeremiah Morley becomes convinced that the world is headed to an inevitable worldwide nuclear war. He organizes an expedition made up of a team of expert scientists and an atomic-powered rock-boring vehicle called a "cyclotram" to find a subterranean environment where holocaust survivors could live indefinitely. When funding falls through, independently rich adventurer Wright Thompson underwrites the project under the condition that he be allowed to go. As the group goes deeper beneath the Earth's crust, personalities clash, tempers flare, and the dangerous journey claims the lives of several expedition members. Then they come upon an enormous underground expanse with its own ocean and phosphorescent light. Starring Bruce Kellogg, Otto Waldis, and Jim Bannon. Look out Hollow Earth, here we come! The movie that started the Hollow Earth craze!

The Devils Hand (1962)

Rick Turner is engaged of Donna Trent and is having nightmares with a beautiful blonde woman dancing in the sky. One night, he is mysteriously driven to a doll shop, and in the next morning he returns to the place with Donna. He finds a doll that resembles his fiancé, but the owner Francis Lamont delivers another doll to him, with the face of the woman of his dreams, Bianca Milan. Rick looks for Bianca and is seduced and convinced by her to join a sect that worships the diabolic Camba, while the health of Donna is threatened by Francis and Bianca. Starring Linda Christian, Robert Alda, and Ariadne Welter. Best not to go into those weird doll shops… a creepy, sexy horror movie.

Kingdom of the Spiders (1977)

Investigating the mysterious deaths of a number of farm animals, vet Rack Hansen discovers that his town lies in the path of hoards of migrating tarantulas. Before he can take action, the streets are overrun by killer spiders, trapping a small group of towns folk in a remote hotel in rural Arizona. Yowks! Starring William Shatner, Tiffany Bolling, and Woody Strode. A great look at the Sedona area in the 1970s starring Captain Kirk from Star Trek!

The Adventures of Smilin’ Jack (1943)

In 1941, an American aviator, ‘Smilin’ Jack’ Martin wishes to resign as an advisor to the Nationalist Chinese Army in order to return to the United States to enlist as an aviator in America’s military buildup prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. He is delayed when the Chinese discover that the neutral Tibetan like Mandon “Province” contains a secret road from India to China crucial for the Allied war effort. Determined to obtain the secret for themselves, or equally determined to have the secret destroyed is the Japanese espionage organization “The Black Samurai” and the German intelligence agent Fräulein von Teufel who masquerades as an American newspaper reporter. Starring Tom Brown, Rose Hobart, and Edgar Barrier.

The Master Key (1945)

The Master Key-1945-Part 1. Set in 1938 with Nazi agents kidnapping scientist Professor Ellwood Henderson in order to get his Orotron machine that can extract gold from seawater. Operating under the secret leadership of “The Master Key,” with the operatives headed by a German agent posing as a private investigator named Garrett Donovan, the gang is trailed by Federal agent Tom Brant, aided by police detective Lieutenant Jack Ryan and newspaper reporter Janet Lowe. Also aiding in the quest is Police Chief William J. O'Brien and his secretary Dorothy Arnold. Starring Milburn Stone, Jan Wiley, and Dennis Moore. One of the great WWII spy serials!

Captain Video: Master of the Stratosphere (1951)

Set in Earth's distant future, this serial tracks the adventures of a group of fighters for truth and justice, known as The Video Rangers. They are led by Captain Video (no first name ever was mentioned). The Video Rangers operated from a secret base on a mountaintop whose location was unspecified. The Captain received his orders from “The Commissioner of Public Safety” (surname Carey), whose responsibilities took in the entire solar system as well as human colonies on planets around other stars. A great early 50s serial with a cool secret base for the Video Rangers, this was tremendously popular in the early 50s, the start of a new future and the race into space!

Scapolamine Shock (1946)

Starring Vincent Price and Lynn Bari. This is the first movie to show the effects of the powerful mind-control drug scopolamine. Scopolamine was used in Nazi Germany as an interrogation tool and is widely used by intelligence agencies around the world. Lynn Bari is an anxious housewife who witnesses a murder and turns to a psychiatrist to help her mental anxiety. Unfortunately the psychiatrist is also the murderer and begins to drive the unfortunate woman insane with scopolamine. A great film noir on the dangers of mind-control drugs.

Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women (1968)

In 1998, six months after the collision of a meteor and subsequent explosion of a rocket sent to Venus, the team composed by the astronauts Kern and Sherman with the robot John is launched to explore Venus. They arrive in the Space Station Texas for refueling but they have problems while landing in Venus. Without communication, another rocket is launched with Commander Brendan Lockhart, Andre Ferneau and Hans Walter to rescue the first team and explore the planet. They use a vehicle to seek Kern and Sherman, but they are attacked by a flying reptile. They kill the animal without knowing that it is worshiped and considered the God Terah by Venusians women that use their powerful connection with nature to destroy the invaders. Meanwhile John helps the two cosmonauts to survive in the hostile land. Starring Mamie Van Doren, Mary Marr, and Paige Lee. Pterodactyls and sexy Venusian women who like to sun-bathe in hip-hugging skin-tight pants and seashell brassieres, what more can you ask for in a retro-movie?

Captain Midnight (1942)

Secret Service Major Steel (Joseph W. Girard), is one of the few men in America aware of the fact that Captain Albright (Dave O'Brien) is also Captain Midnight, daring masked aviator dedicated to fighting gangsters and enemies of America. When murderous bombing attacks are made on West Coast munitions plants, Steel sends for Albright and asks him to track down the mysterious Ivan Shark (James Craven), the foreign agent mastermind behind the attacks. Shark has learned about an ingenious range finder, invented by John Edwards (Bryant Washburn, and makes plans to obtain a model of the invention. Edwards instructs his daughter, Joyce (Dorothy Short), to bring the model to Albright for safekeeping in his mountain laboratory. Shark takes Edwards prisoner by Albright assures Joyce that her father will be saved and an end put to Shark's reign of terror. Dressing as Captain Midnight and enlisting the aid of his friends, Chuck (Sam Edwards) and Ichabod Mudd (Guy Wilkerson), Captain Midnight delivers on his promises fourteen chapters later. An action-packed serial!

Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947)

A gang of criminals, which includes a piano player and an imposing former convict known as 'Gruesome', has found out about a scientist's secret formula for a gas that temporarily paralyzes anyone who breathes it. When Gruesome accidentally inhales some of the gas and passes out, the police think he is dead and take him to the morgue, where he later revives and escapes. This puzzling incident attracts the interest of Dick Tracy, and when the criminals later use the gas to rob a bank, Tracy realizes that he must devote his entire attention to stopping them. Starring Boris Karloff, Ralph Byrd, and Anne Gwynne. Karloff is great as Gruesome. The comic strip come to life!
