Bermuda Tentacles (2014)

The Shattering (2015)

In the dead of night, Donovan drives with his girlfriend, Lucy and several friends to a secret rendezvous in the woods. They believe they are meeting a “healer” who can cure Lucy’s cancer, but they grow suspicious when a booby-trap in the road forces them to stop short of their destination. when the driver gets out to investigate he is brutally killed and dragged from the car. Terrified, the remaining friends run for their lives to a deserted cabin, dodging the paramilitary commandos that hunt them as well as the deadly creatures that slaughtered their friends. As the friends die, one by one, they realize too late that Donovan has set them up as bait in exchange for a magic elixir he believes will heal Lucy, but even Donovan is not prepared to pay the price for Lucy’s cure. A classic giant snake movie!

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)

The world of freight handlers Wilbur Grey and Chick Young is turned upside down when the remains of Frankenstein’s monster and Dracula arrive from Europe to be used in a house of horrors. Dracula awakens and escapes with the weakened monster, who he plans to re-energize with a new brain. Larry Talbot (the Wolfman) arrives from London in an attempt to thwart Dracula. Dracula’s reluctant aide is the beautiful Dr. Sandra Mornay. Her reluctance is dispatched by Dracula’s bite. Dracula and Sandra abduct Wilbur for his brain and recharge the monster in preparation for the operation. Chick and Talbot attempt to find and free Wilbur, but when the full moon rises all hell breaks loose with the Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein all running rampant. Starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Lon Chaney, Jr. The first of the Abbott and Costello Meet the (fill in Monster) movies. Good monster fun!

The Mummy’s Curse (1944)

An irrigation project in the rural bayous of Louisiana unearths living mummy Kharis, who was buried in quicksand twenty-five years earlier. Now in Louisiana, the mummy Kharis roams the bayou, tormented by his forbidden love for Princess Ananka. Starring Lon Chaney Jr., Peter Coe,  and Virginia Christine. The last of the Lon Chaney Jr. mummy movies. Hopefully he can rest in peace until the franchise starts again with Christopher Lee and Hammer Horror.

The Creature Walks Among Us (1956)

In this third Gill-Man feature, the Creature is captured and turned into an air-breather by a rich mad scientist. This makes the Creature very unhappy, and he escapes, killing people and setting fires in the process. Starring Jeff Morrow, Rex Reason and Leigh Snowden. This movie asks, “Who is the monster—the Gill-Man or the mad scientist? More than just a monster movie, this is thought-provoking entertainment. “The jungle or the stars?” asks Dr. Morgan, concerning mankind’s destiny. The only Creature movie not in 3D.

Hercules Against the Barbarians (1964)

When the Mongols invade Europe, they are defeated at Krakow for the first time after many victories. Kubilai (Ken Clark), the responsible commander, asks his emperor Genghis Khan for a second chance. Kubilai has two ideas how to avoid another defeat. First, he wants to eliminate Maciste (aka Hercules in the American dubbed version), the hero of the Polish people, played by Mark Forest. And then, Kubilai holds a prisoner who reveals an important secret: the princess and future queen of Poland lives in a village under false identity. The Mongols want to capture her, but of course, Maciste is a guardian to any maiden in distress… Starring Mark Forest, Jose Greci, and Ken Clark. This action packed movie has Maciste wrestling with a giant snake and a crocodile (yes, in Poland!); plus there is also a fight in an arena with spikes (spears) in the walls. Good sword and sorcery fun.

Revenge of the Creature (1955)

The Creature from the Black Lagoon has been captured by scientists and transported to an aquarium in south Florida. Once there, he becomes attracted to lovely female scientist Helen Dobson (Lori Nelson) and manages to escape and kidnap her, and heads to Jacksonville, with her real-life love in pursuit. Starring Stars John Agar, Lori Nelson, and John Bromfield. Yow! With the Creature after you, you might want to stop and play a game of pinball! This movie was also released in 3D!

The Mummy’s Tomb (1942)

The ancient Egypt Mummy, Kharis, is transported from his homeland with the high priest Mehemet to wreak vengeance on the family who has defiled the sacred tomb of his beloved Princess Ananka. Lon Chaney Jr., Dick Foran, and John Hubbard. The third mummy movie released during WWII.

Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954)

A scientific expedition searching for fossils along the Amazon River discovers a prehistoric Gill-Man in the legendary Black Lagoon. The explorers capture the mysterious creature, but it breaks free. The Gill-Man returns to kidnap the lovely Kay, fiancée of one in the expedition, with whom he has fallen in love. Starring Richard Carlson, Julie Adams, and Richard Denning. Yes, this movie was first released in 3D. The classic creature feature!

The Land Unknown (1957)

On a naval expedition to Antarctica, three men and reporter Maggie Hathaway crash-land in a crater 1000 m below sea level. There, they encounter steamy tropical forest, dinosaurs, carnivorous plants, and human footprints, as Maggie’s clothes become more and more abbreviated. Soon they stumble upon the lonely Dr. Carl Hunter, lost in another expedition twelve years ago. He offers a way out to the three military provided they leave Maggie with him. What will they do? Starring Jock Mahoney, Shirley Patterson, and William Reynolds. This story was allegedly inspired by the discovery, in 1947, of an area of inexplicably warm water in Antarctica. The Tyrannosaurus head from this movie was reportedly used to create Spot under the stairs of the Munster House on The Munsters television show (1964).

Monsters (2010)

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon reentry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an infected. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”… Our story begins when a U.S. journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone to the safety of the U.S. border. Starring Whitney Able and Scoot Mcnairy. A British monster movie filmed in Texas and Mexico.

Reptisaurus (2009)

When a group of friends get stranded on a seemingly deserted island, they soon realize that they’re not alone. Starring Gil Gerard, Bernard Fredericks, and Michael Caden. Made in California and released to theaters in Japan, this pterodactyl movie got lost in the ether. Based on a comic book.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

When strange seeds drift to earth from space, mysterious pods begin to grow and invade a small town, replicating the residents one body at a time. Starring Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy, Brooke Adams, and Jeff Goldblum. A remake of the 1956 movie. This body snatching thing has been going on for decades. Must be a government cover-up.

The Abominable Snowman (1957)

Based on the BBC teleplay by Nigel Kneale (creator of the “Quatermass” series), this Hammer tale of adventurers in the Himalayas finds our intrepid explorers (Peter Cushing and Forrest Tucker) at odds both with one another and the unforgiving harshness at “the top of the world.” After they shoot and kill a Yeti, things get pretty hairy!

American Bigfoot (2017)

Enraged by the murder of its offspring, a Bigfoot rampages through the countryside of Southeast Ohio. Detective Benson (Zach Galligan), Ranger Thomas (Johnny Lechner), and Bigfoot researcher Hank (Dave Sherrill) scramble to locate the legendary creature before it attacks a group of teenagers on a camping trip in an isolated place called Kampout. One of those Made-in-Ohio Bigfoot movies, if you know what I mean.

Missile to the Moon (1958)

Escaped convicts Gary and Lon are caught hiding in a rocket by scientist Dirk Green, who forces them to pilot the ship to the moon. Dirk, who’s secretly a moon being, wants to return to his home satellite. Dirk’s partner Steve Dayton and his fiancĂ© June stowaway on the ship by accident. Will they all make it back safely? Starring Richard Travis, Cathy Downs and K.T. Stevens. Watch for the V-2 Rocket footage at the beginning and stay away from the Moon Spiders!
